Winter Soldier

Once upon a time, there was an epic battle, elephant -vs- cockroach:
The elephant won.
In the process of trail building, I dug up a bunch of greenbrier plants. It is a invasive/nasty/thorny vine, but it’s roots are interesting. Large and oddly shaped, they inspired Helen to pick up a paintbrush:
We then re-purposed them, putting them back into the forest:
Most of the existing forest creatures welcomed them with open arms:
Except for this guy, who pleaded with us to dis-allow the newcomers:
And this guy, who questioned their intentions:
We ignore their pleas and allowed the repatriation:
We had some dinner guests this month. These are the current EEG fellows Helen works with:
And this is one of Irina’s good friends from New Hampshire:
If you decide to come visit us, I will probably torture you with our talking house, as demoed in this video:

Speaking of torture. Remember that photo last month of the crazy guy who was about to jump into a hole in an iced over lake in Minnesota? He survived that, so decided to do a solo Winter trek up Colorado’s highest peak (nobody, including me, wanted to join him):
Fortunately, he survived that also.
Zach’s next adventure, after getting his nursing degree in June, is Army boot camp!
He decided to try soldiering … probably safer than some of his other recent adventures :-)
