N&C Wedding!

Another event in Nick’s bachelor partying was to go shoot some guns.   Zach filled up the back of his car with 12+ guns and 4k rounds of ammo, then got pulled over because of a missing front license plate.    Fortunately the officer didn’t notice the guns, as he was more concerned about the large machetes in the passenger seat.

We got them locked safely in our safe:

And properly serviced:

Helen reminisced about being taught how to break down, reassemble, and shoot the Kalashnikov AK47 in USSR middle school:

While the adventure seeking crowd were flying lead at the shooting range, Tiffany an I stayed home and hung butterflies:

That didn’t sound quite right.    To clarify, we displayed decorative butterflies in a pretty fashion, not choked live butterflies until dead.

After the shooters came back, they joined us in more peaceful activities:

Zach found a lizard friend:

The Master officiate, Uncle Tim, arrived and the they planned:

And rehearsed:

And schemed with Noah some surprise music (Star Wars Imperial March for part of the Bride’s precession, sprinkled with some Hobbit and Mario Brothers tunes later):

The hot tub was tested:

Food was prepared:

And consumed.   Boris’s pilaf got high raves:

Games were played:

The earth was briefly inverted:

Noah and others Alpha tested Nick, George, and Scott’s new ‘learn how to code’ site, http://codecombat.com :

Wedding day!   Mom and helper gathered flowers for reception dinner centerpieces:

And 40->50 of us gathered:

The main event!   Weather was perfect, 80s.  A few days later we had 20+ mph winds, and 1 week later we are in the middle of a 1+ week 100+ degree heat wave!  We got lucky:

The vows were awesome.  The ring exchange was finalized in Yoda form with “with this ring, marry you I do”.

Chloe hand crafted the bouquet with origami:

We traditionalized clothing, with ties, but Nick and I skipped the shoes and went barefoot:

This was nice vantage point to watch the festivities:

Tables were set, more photos were taken:DSCN7323

Food was served:

We were a happy bunch:

And then the dancing began:

And got a little wilder as the sun started to set:

In the end, reason lost out:

And they had a nice (dry) dance:

But most of us didn’t stay dry.  After jumping into the pool after a short reception speech, I spent most of the rest of the night in my Hugh Hefner robe.  I had plenty of pretty girls to go with it:

He didn’t stand a chance:

Scott figures it is time for hot tubing:

And is soon joined by the masses.  We set a record at 12 fully immersed revelers, and about  12 blueberries:

I pumped out the blueberries and what was left of the water a few days later.

The bar was well stocked, and our guest bartender could you serve you up pretty much any mix, with the help of a cell phone app:

Many drinks helped facilitate much dancing and uninhibited karaoke:

Finally, around midnight, we started settling down with some ‘Cards against Humanity’:

We said goodnight:

And woke up to find the yard was mostly still intact.  I was a bit worried, as the night before, we found a deer leaping over the keyboard and running down the wedding isle:

Slowly the crew woke up … we had 15+ sleeping downstairs:

And we had great fun reviewing photos that John the photographer took:

And then the dispersal of people to all points of the globe started.   Nick and Chloe, along with her parents, are now in China, with more celebration's in order there.

Such nice peoples, and a perfect wedding.   We feel most lucky and grateful.
